I need to re-link my ATO and my MyGov accounts to do my tax return. I have never done this before, so it’s a bit overwhelming.

Every time I try and link them, I’m required to give some details to some services. That’s fine. I have only ever given my superannuation fund details and my bank account. These are my ONLY super and bank accounts, and the details have never changed. Yet I am given error codes and told they don’t match what’s on my file.

I don’t understand what else could be on my file, as these are the only details I’ve ever had. They’re put in correctly, I and others have checked several times.

I tried to use a linking code, but every time I call the ATO, I am hung up on. I’ve tried variable times of day and days, and every time I am

told they’re too busy.

What do I do??

Hey @amityradford,

We understand this must be frustrating for you. Sometimes if you have a tax agent lodge your tax returns its their bank details that will be listed on your account and not your own.

This could be one reason why it's not accepting your bank details another could be that there are no bank account details listed. There are other options you can try and use to link yourself if you have the required information.

If you're needing a linking code unfortunately you will need to speak to someone to get one. As we are in peak tax time there are long hold times and some days where you may not get through. We ask that you persevere as someone will be able to help.
