Hi all, I am under senior pension age but receiving carer payment from Centrelink. I used SAPTO calculator to check if I am eligible. It didn't request me to enter my age but said I am eligible. May I ask if there is age requirement for SAPTO?
Hello there @fiftymetersdeep,
No there is no age limit.
To be eligible you must:
- Be eligible for an Australian government pension or allowance
- Meet income limits for you and your spouse
More info can be found on our Seniors and pensioners tax offset webpage.

Thank you Eden. But if there isn't age limit and I am eligible for SAPTO, do you know why ATO didn't show this offset in my final assessment? Should they automatically calculate SAPTO for me or do I have to do something to remind them?
Hey @fiftymetersdeep,
That is strange that the SAPTO tool has advised you're eligible, yet no offset was applied!
Let's confirm a few things-
Is it the carer payment or the allowance you receive?
Do you have a spouse? If so, what is your combined income?
If no spouse, what is your total income?
By the sounds the system has assessed your return and deemed your ineligible for the offset, so we need to make sure you haven't missed out and that that decision is correct!
