I can access my MygovID but because I am identified as a basic, I cannot access the ATO portal, and MygovID only gave me the option to strengthen my identity with an Australian passport which I don't have.

You'd need to verify 2 Australian documents to reach standard identity strength. Check the link for the full list.


Is this for your business or is it someone else's? If you can't reach a standard identity strength, if it's someone else's business. They can add you as a basic user.

I just went through the same hell today. Standard Identity is not accepted by ATO anymore.. if it ever was. Their support on the phone today said I'd need standard but I followed all their recommendations(reinstalled the app and resubmitted all documents) but when I tried to Link ATO it explicitly said that Standard identity is not accepted for this service.


The deal is I provided all documents I had(DL, Medicare and even citizenship certificate) and it is still standard. The only document that is left in the app to add is Australian Passport. I have one which expired 8 years ago and they won't accept it. What people are supposed to do.. pay a few 100s just to get a passport for ATO? This is nonsense. And look at dates in for posts here and mine. Almost a year and nobody has fixed anything. I specifically asked ATO girl a ref number for the phone conversation in case they are going to chaise me for not paying a tax return. Well I tried and they did everything to stop me from doing it.


BTW I tried everything, using a login instead of DigitalID, created a passkey which they say will increase strength. Nothing fixing anything. 4 hours of wasted time just in order to prepare and pay taxes.


Anyone could make it to work?
