I recently update my home address online, due to a mistake, my previous rent house's address was appear as a second address under my personal details. ATO thought it's my investment property and sent me a statement activity 003, which stated I need to pay a notional tax. How can I contact ATO and rectify the error.

Hey @Emiloh1973,

An address on your account won't enter you into PAYG Instalments. When you're entered into instalments it's because of the income you've reported on your tax return. This can be business income or investment income. e.g., rental income, shares, interest etc. Unlike wages when you have other income there's no one withholding the tax on your behalf.

If there is more than $4000 of other income reported on your tax return, we'll work out the notional tax that needs to be paid and issue you with quarterly statements to pay this in instalments. This is to avoid you ending up with a bill when you lodge your next tax return.
