Hello ATO,

My wife applied for TFN from Services Australia via paper application. She received the TFN via the letter and took note of the TFN number. However, we are not sure if the reference number came along with it. We have also lost the letter and we don't have a scanned copy.

We need to link her myGov account with ATO. When she called Services Australia number, she was advised to apply for another TFN in this case. Wouldn't this lead to duplication of the TFN against her IDs? How to proceed in this case?

Thanks for your help in advance.

Regards,

Sri

Hi @sriramswa,

Applying for a TFN again would lead to us sending out the same TFN. But your wife still has her TFN, yes?

If she's unable to link her myGov to us by answering 2 of the questions, she'll need to get in touch with our individuals team to request a linking code. For this she'll need to have some proof of identity documents ready that we can verify before we give out the code.
