my wife left the workforce in 1994 and haven't worked in the last 30 years and have no intention of doing paid work now or in the future. she has just turned 60. the ATO website indicates that she can access her ATO-held Super if she has reached her preservation age (age : 60) and she is retiring (she's already retired from the workforce since 1994). however online application only allows access of her ATO-held Super if she has left the country permanently or due to medical condition like terminal illness.

she has met the condition of release according to the ATO website namely:

  • she has reached her preservation age which is 60
  • she's retired from the workforce

how and where can she apply to withdraw her ATO-held Super because there is no facility in the ATO website to apply online with her condition of release.

Hello @retiredatsixty

No.

There're different requirements for ATO held super than from a superannuation account.

You can withdraw other types of credits held by us if you're retired at preservation age with no active eligible super account.

But for general ATO held super, that is, super sent to us by a closed/inactive superfund, you have to be 65.
