Hi, I got an email to contact the ATO today about my tax returb but they only gave me 2 days to call them. I'm currently overseas for 3 weeks without my simcard I can't login to mygov as it 2fa's to my phone and I can't call overseas.

Is there anyway to email the ATO to let them know to delay this.

Thanks

Hi @Coldplayer,

We understand you're not able to call us in this case. We don't use emails for back & forth communication. This is because it's not secure enough to keep your personal details safe.

If it's about your tax return, we may want to check with you if things are different. There could be a difference in what you've entered vs what's been reported to us by employers, banks, etc. If you're not able to reach out to us in the timeframe, we'll make changes to match what's on our records, and you'll see this as an amendment.

The good news is this isn't set in stone. If your original tax return had the right info, you can request a review of the outcome. This'll give you the chance to provide info that you weren't able to sooner.
