Hey, I’m trying to lodge my second year tax return but am having major issues ans I have moved back to the uk (I’m an uk citizen) and don’t know what to do, please help! Firstly I couldn’t access my original mygov account as I no longer have my Australian SIM card and no Australian number so I created a new mygov account using the generator app to log in due to lack of phone number. Now when trying to link my account to ato I have tried several times to choose 2 questions and answers to verify my account but it keeps saying the details do not match your records but I know they are correct. I have confirmed with my super account that I have provided you with the correct details, my bank details are of course the same as my last tax return and I have tried 2 separate PAGY summaries from 2 prior years and both are saying they don’t match your records despite being the information my employer has supplied me with via payslip. I have tried calling you using the international number but my uk phone contract does not allow international calls so I really do not know what to do at this stage and I would really appreciate your help as soon as possible as I’m very stressed as I know I’m running out of time before the deadline. I only please need help with the linking code and then I can manage the rest hopefully. I appreciate your advice and look forward to your response. Thank you.
Hey @Aliciascullion,
Firstly, you've done the right thing downloading the myGov code generator app.
To link yourself, you'll need to answer 2 of those questions correctly.
Do you have more than 1 super fund? You could try the other funds details if you have more than 1.
Have you tried any of the other available questions? Do you have a copy of a notice of assessment that has been issued to you? A Centrelink payment summary?
If you've tried all the options and the details are incorrect, you'll require a linking code.
There is also the option to lodge a paper lodgement for your tax return, if you're not able to get yourself linked.
Check out the info we have on linking your myGov account to the ATO.
