MygovID app wants me to update and shows error code CER000001.

Clicking the update button sends me to the app store and there are no updates to be found.

I had this issue last week and ATO technical support had me delete the app, download it again, go through the ID verification including the facial verification. It worked after that. I have tried the same process this time and it has not helped. I have rung 1300 287 539 and they have not been able to assist me at all. Basically I should download the new myID app and that will solve the problem. The new app is not available until mid November. They have no answers and finished off the call with "is there anything else I can help you with?"

Words fail me. What am I supposed to do until I can access the new app?

My phone is an Apple, I have not replaced it recently, the software is up to date and I have switched if off and on again in case that might help. Is there an answer to this issue?

We need to do a bit of troubleshooting here.


If your app is up to date can you try the below:


  • check your time settings are set to automatic
  • close the myGovID app
  • turn off the Wi-Fi connection on your device
  • enable your mobile data (if required)
  • reopen the app.

If that doesn't work move on to this:


  • turn off Wi-Fi on your smart device
  • uninstall the myGovID app
  • reinstall the app and try again.

Let us know how that goes.

This seems to be a weekly occurence, so frustrating, in the process of lodging BAS's times out and then get this ridiculous error again.. tried all of the above and still no luck


We need a better system, and why does it have to time out so quickly.. its very frustrating trying to get work done and so much time is wasted because of this app

Also having this problem on a daily basis. Not ideal when you multiple BAS statements to lodge.


What works for me is turning my phone on & off. The app will continue working for the day, but will relapse the following morning.


I don't want to uninstall the app & go through the setup ID process again. It is a laborious process that I should not have to do.


This has been a known problem for years now, so I don't understand why you still can't provide us with a functioning app?
