Hi all,

I've been overseas for the last 5 years and just returned to Australia this April.

When trying to link my TFN with myGov account, the error code PAB.DE.0009 is shown. I called the ATO regarding this issue around mid-October and was also given reference no. as well as was advised the issue will be solved by 10 business days. Later, I called the ATO again when the timeframe passed and again was told to keep waiting, until now still no sign of fixing unfortunately :(.

Is there any ways to fix this error code? I'm frustrated to wait for 40 mins to get someone from ATO but nothing happen til now.

Hi @mayphamau12,


The error PAB.DE.0009 means your account has an extra layer of security on it to protect your personal info. Because of this you'll need to speak with our Client Identity Support Centre. They'll be able to unlock your account for a period of time so you can access and link your account to myGov. 


If you're unable to link by answering the 2 questions, you'll need to get a linking code. But it's important to know that linking codes only last for 24 hours! Our article has more info for help with Linking your myGov account to the ATO.

Thanks for your reply.

The thing is I could not go to the page including 2 questions as per you said.

I called the ATO and provided details to the staff and he also forwarded to other team (perhaps the Client Identity Support team) during our call. I was even given the reference no. for my case but whenever I try to call and ask for update, the staff informs me my case is processing since late October :(
