Hi,

I'm trying to confirm who is responsible for issuing a tax invoice for staff travel (domestic) that was booked through booking.com. Payment for the accommodation was made in advance through Booking. Following the stay, Booking has advised that we need to contact the accommodation provider to get a tax invoice. The accommodation provider (large chain) has stated "As per hotel policy, we are not allowed to issue the invoice for the guest as we have a corporate/contracted rate with Booking.com, which can be revealed from our hotel in an invoice. " and are refusing to issue the invoice. Who is responsible in this case?

Regards,

Hi @builtenvironmen

This doesn't sound like a question for the ATO.

From what you've described, if you've booked and paid for the accommodation through the third-party booking website, then they'd be responsible for issuing the tax invoice. Might need to get legal advice if you're being refused access to a tax invoice.
