Hi,

I am changing jobs, and have requested that the new employerdoes not put any more money this financial year into Super, as I am over the cap.

They have advised that they cannot do this under the ATO guidelines. Is this correct ?

I believe I was able to stop the Super payments if I was with the previous employer, but the new employer advises that they cannot. Is that because they are unaware of what has been put into Super already ?

Is there any option available to me now, except for putting extra money into Super (and paying the extra tax as a result ?)

Correct, they cannot "stop paying you super" as thats illegal and they would face serious penalties if they do not pay you super (regardless of you going over the contributions cap). I believe you will just have to cop the extra tax.
