Hi. My ex husband has just asked me to give him a statement from my private health insurance which includes our two children (10 and 8) because he does not have them on his own policy and now owes money to the ATO for the Medicare Surcharge Levy. He has not contributed to their premiums at all since our separation. His tax agent has told him they just need to see that the kids are covered. I feel uneasy about this as he has not contributed at all and it seems like I am the scape goat for getting him out of paying this when he should have either been contributing or had them covered on his own policy. He is arguing he pays child support so I should be giving it to him. Please help with any advice and guidance. I feel I could also be liable for fraud if I give it to him. Thank you

Hiya @VP2025
We can't give advice on what you should do, it's entirely your choice whether to share this info or not.
But just to reassure you, it wouldn’t be considered fraud, and you wouldn’t be liable for anything if you did choose to give it to him.
To be exempt from Medicare Levy Surcharge, your dependants need to be covered by appropriate private healthcare. There’s no rule about who pays for the coverage.
