I was looking to lodge a tax return and I called to get a linking code for my case. The person who was helping me ask for many questions about my identity which I gave. Everything was going fine until he said the system did not matched my name and last name. We were both very confused because everything was going well. We tried with other documents but the result was the same. Eventually he just said "I'm sorry I can't help you, it's probably my system because so far all the information you provided seemed correct. I would suggest to try again next week".


Now I not sure what to do if the system does not recognize my next week. I'm looking for an ATO office in Brisbane but it seems there is none and I need to find a way to lodge my tax return.

I am afraid I can't assist with connecting your myGov to ATO online services so that you can lodge with myTax. However, there are other ways to lodge:


  1. Mail a paper form to the ATO (QC 32121). The address is the GPO Box 9845 in your nearest capital city.
  2. Contact a registered tax agent and they can lodge on your behalf, for a fee.


That said, there is no rush if you are trying to lodge your return for the 2024-25 financial year. The individual tax return via myTax is not due until October 31, so you have plenty of time to try to resolve the technology issue first.
