I was on a WHV in Australia and worked for five months. I have since left the country and wanted to file my taxes. I need to link my myGov account to the ATO in order to do so. However, the only info I have to link is the superannuation information. I don't have a bank account in the system as it is my first time filing taxes in Australia.

I can not get a linking code as apparently my TFN, superannuation info and US passport are not enough to identify me. The person on the phone said I needed my phone number to identify me which I no longer have. She said to update my contact details on myGov to give a new number. I planned to put a friend's number who is still in Australia.

When I went into myGov to update my contact details, it said I have to link the ATO, medicare or centrelink (none of which I have) in order to update my contact details. So, I've gone full circle. I still can't link my ATO.

Any advice would be warmly welcomed, thank you.
