Hi everyone,

I recently applied for DASP. Since my super balance is over $5,000, I need to go through identity verification. The problem is, I’ve already left Australia and my passport has expired.

Does anyone know if I can use my Australian driver’s licence or any other documents instead for the verification? My super fund is AustralianSuper.

Thanks in advance!

Hi @jeffreysam95,

Even if your passport is expired, I would still enter your passport details used when applying for the visa. Your info (except TFN) is passed onto the department of home affairs and is aimed to help identify you.

Another option if you can't access the application online is submitting a paper DASP application.

Hello,

I would like to clarify my situation regarding my Departing Australia Superannuation Payment (DASP) application with AustralianSuper

  • I have already uploaded a certified copy of my passport, but the passport is expired.
  • AustralianSuper has informed me that they cannot accept it, even though it has been properly certified.
  • Unfortunately, I cannot renew or obtain a new passport for at least the next 1–2 years due to my circumstances.
  • I do have a certified copy of valid Australian driver’s licence that has previously been accepted for identity verification with my super fund.

Could you please confirm if there is any alternative solution, such as using my certified expired passport, Australian driver’s licence, or another certified document?

At the moment, I am stuck because the fund insists on a valid passport, which I cannot provide.

Thank you for your guidance.
