Hi @YT515776

If you've forgotten your tax file number, there are several ways you can find it without needing to apply for a new one. Your TFN is yours for life, so you can't apply for a new one if you already have one.

You can find your existing TFN in these places:

  • your ATO online account through myGov or the ATO app
  • your income tax notice of assessment if you've lodged a tax return
  • letters we've sent you, such as a statement of account
  • your income statement or payment summary from your employer
  • your superannuation account statement.

If you use a registered tax agent, you can ask them for your TFN as they'll have it on file. If you still can't find your TFN after checking these options, you can phone us directly and we'll need to confirm your identity before we can provide it.

As a last option, you can lodge a paper TFN enquiry form, but this process takes 28 days to complete.

Check your existing documents first using the methods above or contact us directly if you need assistance locating your TFN for your Centrelink application.
