Hi, ive been offered a mystery shopper gig so I can make some extra money on the side but im confused about the questions, i know no one can tell me what to put down and im not asking what i should put down, i just want to know what the questions are asking and what they mean so i can fill out the form properly. The only box that applies is me is the hobby box as i do intend for this to be more of a hobby while i study. But what do the other options mean?

Hi @Dicey_01
The Statement by a supplier not quoting an ABN form is used when you're providing services without an ABN and need to explain why you don't have one. Since you mentioned the hobby option applies to you, this means you're doing mystery shopping as a private recreational pursuit or hobby.
The other options on the form typically include situations where:
- the supplier's entire payment is exempt income
- the supplier is not carrying on an enterprise
- the supply is made as part of a private recreational pursuit or hobby.
For mystery shopping as a hobby while studying, you'd select the hobby option because you're not doing it as a business with profit intentions in a repeated and organised way. A hobby is something you do for fun, whereas a business is generally an activity you do with the intention to make a profit.
You can find the Statement by a supplier not quoting an ABN form on our website, or the company hiring you can create their own statement as long as it includes the same information. Make sure you understand which category truly applies to your situation before completing the form.
