Hi all. I'm sure this has been asked plenty of times over the years, but in saying that I'd like to hope there has been some form of progress towards rectifying the core issue.

I had to set up the MyID app when I was younger for employment reasons, meaning I verified my identity documents with my previous name details. Since then, I have updated my driver's license to my new details using a Queensland Change of Name certificate. I understand that QLD certificates are still not accepted as "valid" by MyID, but as I have had a "strong" identity before on the app, I can no longer access sites such as the ATO without verifying another ID; which is complicated when I don't have any other ID to verify (for further context: I was born overseas so I do not have an Australian birth certificate, and everything else has already been verified). I would use my passport as an alternative, but it has been expired for over 3 years and I cannot renew it. I have to apply for a new one entirely, which would have my current name on it anyway.

All of that to ask: has anyone been in this position before and found a way to fix it? Or is anybody aware of what I can do? I'm currently trying to get in contact with customer support but they have been decidedly unhelpful in the past, so I'm not holding out much hope. Please let me know if there's anything I can do. Thanks.

Hi @s4msummers,

This issue relates to your myID app rather than your ATO records. The ATO doesn't manage myID, so you'll need to contact the myID team directly to troubleshoot identity verification issues with your Queensland Change of Name certificate.

There is some information on their website regarding updating your name. They advise if you are unable to verify in the app to contact their help desk.
