Establishing cost base for shares inherited from my father in 2015. My father inherited these shares from his father. How do I work out the cost base?

You need to work backwards to find the cost base. The deceased estate should have been passing the cost base information or the cost base information should have been requested from the estate

Worse case scenario assume market value on day of acquisition date (likely original purchase date or if pre-cgt on date of death, then market value on date of death)

Worst case scenario is cost base of 0
