I am composer and recently worked with a session musician who came from overseas to work with me. I paid for several lunches/meals for him in restaurants close to my workspace during the time we worked together. Can I expense these meals?

Are you asking if you can deduct these costs as a business expense? It doesn't sound like his lunches are directly related to you earning assessable income, so I'd say not. Food and drink is usually considered private in nature and not deductible. Have a read on the ATO website which lists what costs can be deducted as a business expense.
