When linking your myGov account to the ATO, you might get the "details don't match" error for a few reasons:


  • The personal details (name, date of birth, TFN) you've entered might not match what's in our records.
  • The format of your details might be incorrect - for example, your TFN should be a 9-digit number with no spaces.
  • You might have provided incorrect information when answering the questions about your tax record.
  • Our information on record might be outdated.


To resolve this, check that your personal details are entered correctly. If you continue to have trouble, you may need to contact us for a unique linking code to complete the connection.
